Thanks for taking a look at the President's Blog. I would like for this to be a third place where we can discuss the issues important to the North Carolina Federation and to NARFE. Currently I write an article for the top of the website's home page plus have a column in our quarterly newspaper and try to address current issues in both of those locations. May 24, 2016 - All, I'm happy to be serving as your Federation President. We've hit the ground running by adding new members to the board (we still need more) and continuing the delegate designation process for the national convention in Reno in August. In the next few weeks I'll be working with our board to formulate our legislative advocacy program. Thanks to Charles Talley, our new National Legislative Officer, for getting the ball rolling. Also, John Allis, our State Legislative Officer, is looking at ways to involve our members in advocacy at the General Assembly in Raleigh. Tom Jennings, our Executive Vice President, in his role as the Federation Membership Committee Chair, is beginning to define what our membership priorities are of this year. One of my goals is to revitalize our membership program and Tom will be spearheading that endeavor. Finally, leet me say that I want to hear from everyone about matters that you are concerned about that you think the Federation can help with or act on. |
